Powerhouse of acting: Anthony Hopkins-1

One of the Hollywood movies I watched countless times is: The Silence of the Lambs, a 1991 release that walked away with five Oscars: best actor in a leading role for Anthony Hopkins, best actress in a leading role for Jodie Foster, best director Jonathan Demme and best writing, screenplay for Ted Tally.

Of  these awards, Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster remained etched in one's  memory forever. Dr Hannibal Lector was the most admired screen villain from Hollywood.

Seven years later, while waiting the Dubai International Airport  in May 2009, picked up Anthony Hopkins: The Biography by Quentin Falk (386 pp) and finished it off 100 days later.

Recently, again returned to read random pages: the last two chapters. No rhyme or reason. Just like that. Having watched the Lecter triology (The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon), based on Thomas Harris' novel by the same name, Hopkins ... Oops! actually Sir Anthony Hopkins! Yes, he was knighted by Her Majesty.

Nonetheless, post this biggest career achievements, he uprooted himself from othe United Kingdom to United States. His ambition, like many Indians, was to  get a green card! Thrice married, this Welsh theatre actor-turned-film thespian is a treat to watch.

Significantly, he was about to hang up his boots before the Lambs film landed on his  lap. Rest, as they say, is history. Though watched several movies of his, nothing comes even closer to this film.

Like Tom Hanks' Philadephia, this Hopkin's movie that will compel me forego everything else to sit glued to the screen.

His depiction of cannibalistic surgeon was so captivating or so real, Foster who did the role of FBI agent Clarice Starling seeking his assistance to capture another serial killer evaded any interaction with him after shooting hours. She literally ran away

Sir Anthony Hopkins is such a powerhouse of acting! Evil impersonation!
